Smart Firefighting

Chinese government recently issued a smart firefighting guideline to build new surveillance systems. 

The new remote systems will connect more buildings and improve functions like automatic fire alarms, inspections and supervision, able to recognize signals like fire and smoke, and make alarms as well as monitor the conditions of firefighting facilities, as stated in the guideline. Besides, the systems will also monitor electricity leakage and cable temperatures.

Prefecture-level cities and above should complete building the new systems by the end of 2018.
Information resources including live images of fire sites, the locations of firefighting teams, and major sources of danger near fire sites should be collected and maintained on a command platform for public security departments by the end of 2018, according to the guideline.

High-rise buildings under construction should be installed with the new surveillance systems and old buildings should be fitted with separate fire alarm and firefighting facilities, it added.

Smart Transportation

The world's first railless train has been tested recently in Zhuzhou, Central China's Hunan province. The 30-meter train with three carriages, can move at a speed of 70 km/h and can carry up to 500 passengers. Powered by electricity, the train can travel 25 kilometers with a 10-minute charge. With sensors equipped onboard, it is able to plan its own routes and operate without a driver.

Smart Public Parking Lot

Jinan in China's Shandong province is building a smart underground parking lot, 20 meters deep, with a total floor area of 4300 square meters, estimated to operate by the end of 2018. It is expected to be the largest one nationwide, able to accommodate 800 cars in total.

There are 16 lifts to transfer cars, which will be measured by an automatic laser monitoring facility of their sizes on entering the parking lot. The lifts will take those cars into different floors to park. 

It takes around 80 seconds or at most 120 seconds to retrieve or park a car. With 20 car-transferring machines at work, it will only take 45 minutes to remove all cars there.
