Studio Design Director Barry Wilson was invited as a speaker for the International Green Building Material Seminar on 19 Otc, 2014, in the 24th China International Ceramic & Bathroom Fair Foshan.
Climate Change and Global Warming have heightened the urgency for Sustainable Development in all aspect and raised awareness regarding its importance. To develop sustainability of the ceramic industry, several elements of industrial resources should be considered, including Energy, Transportation, Water, Materials, Waste and Carbon. More attention and thought to those elements will facilitate a good sustainable manufacturing environment and the overall industry will enter into a new era of higher level of competitive advantage.
The workshop's topic was 'carbon footprint, life cycle analysis, embodied energy'. It aimed to help stakeholders in the ceramic industry understand the importance of sustainable issues and the difference between several sustainable terms such as green, sustainable and environmentally-friendly . During the workshop, a sustainable quiz was adopted to increase the workshop entertainment and attendee involvement. Quiz questions about related knowledge of sustainable products, green products, embodied energy, carbon footprint and life cycle analysis, along with the waste disposal methods were presented in a such active atmosphere that the attendees can learn to have a clearer understanding of what is a real green product.
