During the National Holiday, Beijing Rail Bureau opens a cargo train which can transport private cars from Beijing to Hangzhou. The owners can travel to Hangzhou by train so as to avoid the traffic jam on Highways and they can travel by their own cars after that.

Regarding to this event, an online poll from Sina.com shows that 52% of the nettizens consider this measure is good to avoid traffic jam whilst 42.7% think that it worsens the situation.

Wang Mengshu, Academician of China Engineering Academy and high-speed rail expert, said that it is not very necessary, but we can try and adjust in a flexible way.

Professor Sun Zhang from Tongji Institute of Railway and Urban Rail Transportation doesn’t propose this service because “the downtowns in south-eastern coastal cities and highways are very crowded, it will worsen the situation if more cars are transported to Hangzhou downtown.”
