A 57-floor building in Changsha, Hunan Province was recently constructed in only 19 days, at an average pace of three floors each day.

The unusually fast construction was first reported by Taiwan‘s EBC News, which referred to the construction process as "piling up Lego blocks," and suspected that such a speed would become the "new normal in construction" on the Chinese mainland.

The building is named "Little Sky City" and was constructed by Hunan Broad Group. It measures more than 200 meters in height and has a total floor space of 180,000 square meters.

The company explained that the utilization of modular materials was the main reason for the unusually fast speed. The modules were already 95 percent completed before being stacked to construct the building.

The Broad Group has done similar things in the past. In 2010, it managed to erect a six-floor pavilion at the Shanghai Expo in one day and a 15-floor hotel in just six days.

While many are astonished by the "construction new normal," some said:”Well, even if it is constructed, nobody dares to go in there. China needs quality not speed.”
