BWPI Director Barry Wilson, together with APECLAND General Manager Wenyuan Wu and CIMIGO Director Michael Ellis attended the gala dinner of the 6th Global Conference of the Alliance for Healthy Cities, on 29 Oct 2014, and during the dinner, they received the Space Design Merit for the Design for Well-being Award when the Award Ceremony was presented.

Design for Well-being Award (DWA) aims to acknowledge, celebrate, promote and inspire creative solutions that improve well-being and healthy living in contemporary cities.

On the occasion of the Sixth Global Conference of the Alliance for Healhty Cities (an initiative under the auspices of World Health Organization) to be held in Hong Kong, the DWA is jointly organized by the Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation and China Hong Kong Chapter, Alliance for Healthy Cities, with a generous donation form the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

The Alliance for Healthy Cities (AFHC) is an international network aimed at protecting and enhancing the health of city dwellers, founded in 2003 at the inaugural meeting held at the World Health Organization Regional Office.

The Joint Venture Project Lecong Beiwei Prefered Development Strategy won the Space Design Merit for Design for Well-being Award (DWA) in August, 2014.

Statistical Analysis
It is a project about urban planning strategies developed for a 14 km2 area of an industrially based town. Sustainable design principles were employed through public planning charrettes and undertaking of innovative market research techniques to assist stakeholders in forming a project vision and guiding detailed development strategies. 

Statistical analysis was used to understand the issues of importance amongst the populace in the future growth of Lecong town. A vision statement for the project was developed by the Stakeholders themselves. Based on Vision and Principles, 3 development strategies were developed with a clear priority of development. A clearly defined assessment approach was adopted through further charrettes and the results were utilised and assessed to create a Preferred Development Strategy (PDS).
