Sales of new houses are increasing in Shenzhen after the city’s implementation of a national policy to cool the housing market this month, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported yesterday.

Data from Centaline Property showed that 1,270 newly built houses were sold in the first week of April, after the city announced measures that aim to curb the overheating market. That amount of new-house sales represented a 31-percent increase from the last week in March.

The average transaction price of new houses in the first week of April was greater than 20,000 yuan (US$3,230) per square meter, a 5.9-percent increase from the previous week.
