White Inflatable Greenhouse to Insulate Pungent Odor

A white inflatable greenhouse whose area is an equivalent of three standard football fields is appearing in Hangzhou. A piece of contaminated land with pungent odor is under the greenhouse, where there was a pesticide plant before 2009.

In the September of 2012, some soil remediation work had been done to the contaminated land by Hangzhou Industrial Assets Management Investment Group. As the pungent odor is so strong that it affects the surrounding residents’ living, the remediation work was called off.

Covering the contaminated land with a greenhouse is just a temporary solution of insulating the poisonous gas. According to Hangzhou Dadi Environment Protection Company, the builder of the greenhouse, they are adjusting the devices and will apply the thermal desorption to separate the harmful substances from the contaminated soil.
