Lecong Beiwei PREFERRED DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY Shunde, Guangdong, China client: People's Government of Lecong, Shunde / Shenzhen APECLAND Design Co. Formative urban planning and development strategies for a 14 km2 area of an industrially based town looking to reinvent its future economy and quality of life potentials. Sustainable urban design principles were employed through the hosting of public planning charrettes and undertaking of innovative market research analysis techniques to assist stakeholders in forming a project vision and guiding detailed development strategies around social, environmental and economic needs. The project received the design for well being Merit Award in 2014 at the 6th Global Conference of the Alliance for Healthy Cities under the auspecies of the WHO.
