Shanghai Encourages Garbage Sorting with Incentive System

Shanghai is encouraging garbage sorting with an attractive incentive system named ‘Green Account’, which is estimated to benefit 200,000 people. 

As long as the citizens open a ‘green account’ and sort the wet and dry garbage in the right way, they can accumulate some credits, with which they can exchange daily necessities, park tickets and even appointment tickets of some expert doctors. The ‘Green Account’ may be bound to some consuming cards as well, according to Shanghai Greening and City Appearance Management Bureau.

Recently, the ‘Green Account’ system mainly motivates citizens to sort out the dry and wet garbage.

As the same time, the ‘Green Account’ system is also an open platform which can connect other environmental-friendly incentive system and become a file recording Shanghai citizens’ good behaviors of protecting environment.
