Sanya Plans to Build Offshore Airport

Sanya plans to reclaim a 2800 ha of land for building airport with an estimated investment of more than 100 billion, released by CCTV News.

The new airport is in the master plan of Airport Tourism Industry Park which is to be built in Hongtang Bay, a sea area between Tianyahaijiao and Nanshan tourist interests, said Ms Lai, director of Resource Planning and Development department of Sanya Tourism Committee.  

The airport tourism industry park will be a man-made island, of which the construction area will be 49.5 ha.

As the project is still in a preparatory stage and will be affected by various factors, there is no complete project proposal yet.
