New Rail to Shorten Shenzhen-Shanghai Trip

Shenzhen is expected to link with Shanghai via the Xiamen-Shenzhen line by the end of this year.

Shenzhen Municipal Transport Commission officials said the rail will shorten the travel time between Shenzhen and Xiamen to three hours. At present, a bus trip takes at least eight hours and a train trip from Guangzhou to Xiamen takes about 13 hours.

The Shenzhen section of the rail is in structural construction and scheduled to start laying track in June.
