Shanghai Advocates Business Partnering to Sustain Villages

Thirty villages with high conservation merit will be incorporated into modern villages with industry support. The villages were selected following a survey by a Shanghai research institute conducted among thousands of villages last month. 

Being chosen into the pilot program by Shanghai Department of Housing, Shicun village is currently receiving sponsored business support in the village development.

The proposal allows a business organization to rent all vacant farm houses in order to beautify and upgrade them into recreation facilities for elderly citizens.

Ms Zhou Xiaojuan, Deputy Director of No.3 City Planning Institute of Shanghai Urban Planning Bureau stated that “timeshare models” can be utilised In order to improve living efficiency,
