Guangzhou to Invest 800 Billion in Urban Infrastructure Construction

Guangzhou is to invest over 800 billion yuan in urban infrastructure construction while 70% of the money will be used in transportation.


Other main tasks of urban infrastructure construction cover the following aspects: national information hub, power supply, municipal road network, municipal landscape and public service, according to Guangzhou Municipal Development Reform Commission. [1]

The investment to transportation is 554.8 billion yuan in total, among which the investment to Inter-city rail transit accounts for 40%.

According to Pearl River Delta Inter-City Rail Transit Planning (2009 Version), the following inter-city rails have already been under construction: 

• Guangzhou ~ Zhuhai, 
  
• Guangzhou ~ Foshan, 
  
• Guangzhou ~ Dongguan ~ Shenzhen, 
• Dongguan ~ Huizhou, 
  
• Foshan ~ Zhaoqing.  
  

Aimed at connecting the main Pearl River cities and forming a basice skeleton of the inter-city rail transit system, the following lines are among the planning:

• Guangzhou ~ Qingyuan, 
  
• Guangzhou ~ Foshan loop line,
  
• Zhuhai downtown ~ Zhuhai Airport, 
• Guangzhou ~ Foshan ~ Jiangmen ~ Zhuhai, 
  
• Zhongshan ~ Nansha ~ Humen. 
  

The inter-city rails include ordinary rails and high speed rails.

Aviation, ports, railway and expressway are  main tasks of transportation as well. [2]
