Cities Graduate to First Tier

15 cities have reached the capability of new first-tier cities due to their commercial value based on five indicators: concentration of commercial resources, city's pivotability, citizen vitality, variety of lifestyle, and flexibility in the future.

Released by a research institute of CBNweekly, a famous Chinese commercial business magazine, on May 7, this report assessed the commercial potential of 338 Chinese cities. According to this magazine, there are 4 first-tier cities in China, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen

However,another report released by China Real Estate Data Academy, a gathering of property professionals and researchers, listed five cities as first-tier: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Tianjin

Currently, no specified tiered city system has been established by the government.
