Netizens: Shenzhen too Rushed to Raise Parking Fees

Almost immediately after the city released twin proposals on Feb. 19 to raise local parking fees, many netizens began saying the city should fully develop its public transportation systems before making the use of cars more expensive.  

The city’s urban transportation design institute posted the proposals online and is seeking public comment before final plans are written. The two proposals encourage drivers to shift to public transportation or commute during non-rush hours.

Many bloggers have expressed widespread criticism.
