On a morning of April, a citizen found a street light lying on the road which was knocked down by a truck. He called the civic infrastructure repairing centre and didn’t leave until the maintainers showed up. The citizen is one of the 200 volunteer monitors of civic infrastructure in Hefei (an eastern-central city in China). Hefei government initiated the civic infrastructure monitoring activity in the April of 2011 and now gets 200 citizens registered as monitors of all industries whose ages are ranging from 20 to 70. With monitors’ help, Hefei government handled 8082 cases in 2014, which is 8 times of 2011. This is a good example of government and citizens working together taking care of the civic infrastructure.
