Shenzhen’s transportation commission has outlined 10 reforms slated for this year to relieve congestion, improve the city’s “intelligent transportation level” and promote infrastructure investments:-
The resumption of meter fees was revealed earlier this month and is open for public opinion. In 1997, Shenzhen took the lead among mainland cities by piloting a parking-meter program in cooperation with a local company. The model was widely criticized by the public and the program was halted in 2007, when the contract expired. The 19 million yuan in funds remaining on citizens’ parking cards was not refunded.
