Shenzhen Bay ‘Super City’ International Competition
shenzhen, prc client: Urban Planning and Land Resources Commission of Shenzhen / Zhudao Architecture and Engineering Limited Detailed site planning for an important new high density CBD city core in a new district at the centre of Shenzhen with a planned employed population of 180-220 thousand. Design development included health, education, recreation, sports administrative, traffic control, power, communications, sanitation and disaster mitigation facilities to support extensive high rise commercial provision, including a landmark super-tall building. Forward looking scenarios of detailed planning and design were proposed for this project:- 1. Walkable City - forming a super-block traffic free environment; 2. Sponge City - collection of rainwater and reduction of hard surface areas; 3. Resilient City - green infrastructure integration to link with surrounding ecological systems; 4. Equitable City - focused development of public transport and shared travel, with biike network connected to subways, bus stations and heavy trafficked buildings.
