Thinking Beyond: Pathway to Future Sustainable City Development

Last week saw the WorldGBC Congress 2015 held in Hong Kong; co-organised by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), and fully supported by the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC).

Barry Wilson attended on behalf of the HKILA and was stimulated by the high level discussions on matters of significant importance for the future. Under the theme of “Thinking Beyond: Pathway to Future Sustainable City Development”, the congress discussed issues of scope far wider than just green buildings, with the focus clearly on cites and local governments at the centre of collective action to address climate issues. The clear message of the  Congress was that whilst technological and planning solutions are all available, the financial mechanisms and political will have not been. That appears about to change.  He attended the following presentations with thanks to all the experts for sharing their knowledge and insight.
