Envisioning Urban Agriculture Closes Shenzhen Biennale

Barry Wilson was a guest speaker in the closing forum: Envisioning Urban Agriculture and Ecology for PRD 2.0 of the 6th Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism Architecture (UABB).

​The forum was focused on exploring the extent and ways urban agriculture being integrated into cities, the possible existence of the genuinely operational edible aqua-landscapes that could be visually and experimentally appealing within cities, and ​the specific possibilities and challenges for future ecological urban visions for Shekou, Deep bay, Shenzhen, Hong Kong.

Implications and Projections of Floating Fields Project  Thomas Chung | School of Architecture, The Chinese University of Hong Kong 

​Thomas Chung, from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, specifically introduced his Floating Fields project, which integrated productive aqua-edible landscape with eco-water cycle as public space at the Biennale Venue and speculated on a place-based, bio-social urbanism, aspiring to organic living within part of the PRD 2.0 vision.​

​The Floating Fields project received the Biennale Organizing Committee Prize at the closing ceremony.

​​Organized by Shenzhen Municipal Government at the former Dacheng Flour Factory in Shekou, Shenzhen, the sixth Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism Architecture began on December 4th, 2015 and came to an end on February 28th, 2016.
