Badaling section of the Great Wall will be planted with 12 fake ‘pine trees’. These trees are actually lightning rods which can protect the tourists and the Wall.

As the Great Wall was built on the ridge, it is easily struck by lightning which will affect the tourists’ safety. Further lightning rods will be added along Badaling section in future.
