  Zhuzhou, Hunan Province | The first suspended ‘Air Train’ model line will be built in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. The service frequency of the air train is every 2 minutes and the capacity is 8500 to 11000 (the city’s population is around 3.95 million) people per hour, said Mr Bao Zaiyong, the project director of Air Train International which is a subsidiary of H-Bahn specializing in driverless passenger suspension railway system. As a new type of public transportation, the air train will not be interfered by the traffic lights and traffic jam, of which the speed and capacity are medium. The air train can be massively produced in the factory and installed on site, which will save a lot of construction time and can be put into use within 1 or 2 years. The construction cost of air train is 120 million to 150 million, which is one fifth of metro. The air train can be developed in old city area where the space is narrow and the road is difficult to expand, a director of CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. Said. The company is the main production base of electric locomotives in China and the national designated enterprise of mass transit vehicles localization. The research and development team studied that the air train can start from CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co which is located at Tianxin Road and go along Renmin Road. “It’s better to start from the company so that it can save the cost of installation and it is easier to examine and repair.” A representative from Zhuzhou Public Bus Company held a different opinion, saying that the green belt will narrow down the city roads which are tight already and the upright columns and the air train will make people stressed as the upper space is not open enough. The Air Train International Group said that even though the capacity of air train is lower than metro, it is irreplaceable and indispensable among the public transportation. Mr Zheng Jian, Deputy secretary general of Zhuzhou government expressed his agreement on the above opinion, saying that the project operating team should improve the technology so as to overcome the limitations and provide an acceptable fee proposal to government. The government will invite specialists to discuss and demonstrate this project. The suspended air train was originated from Germany more than 100 years ago. There is no major safety accident in record. Located in Hunan Province and next to Changsha, Zhuzhou city pays much attention on public transportation, which is one of the main hubs of China’s railway system, the first city massively to develop electric public buses and the third city to develop public bike system.
